The Polywood shutter, which is exclusively sold through sunburn shutters does qualify for the energy tax credit. No other plantation shutters qualify as they don't meet the governments specified requirements. I know because I have personally received the tax credit for my shutters I had installed by sunburst. Polywood is sold at lowest as well, however sunburst is the company who does their shutters. And the charts in lowest are estimates to give customers a rough estimate, the actual price is based off of the square footage not a chart. Also I had home depot or their shutter company rockwood as they call themselves which is actually Houston shutters and they were significantly more expensive, and not nearly the quality. If Teresa a sunburst in your area I definitely suggest calling them. They are professional, price competitive and by far the best looking shutter. Also they are made in the USA!

Are plantation shutters certified as energy efficient?

Can the cost can be used for a “Tax” credit on your Income Tax Return?

Lowes, in select locations, carries Graber wood or faux wood shutters. They look great. This is not a do it yourself deal, someone comes to measure and install.

I have been researching information about the Lowe's Plantation Shutters concerning if they are certified as energy efficient and the cost can be used for a "Tax" credit on your Income Tax Return. If anyone has an answer for this, it will definitely be appreciated.

And, we love our "wood" plantation shutters. I have personally installed them in two bedrooms, a bath, the kitchen and on the side windows to our "Picture Window". Find it very easy to do and makes me feel like a professional installer. Thanks!
